Exploring Embeddings for MIMO Channel Decoding on Quantum Annealers

Quantum Annealing provides a heuristic method leveraging quantum mechanics for solving Quadratic Unconstrained Binary Optimization problems. Existing processing units are readily available via cloud platform access wide range of use cases. In particular, novel device, the D-Wave Advantage has been recently released. this paper, we study applicability Maximum Likelihood (ML) Channel Decoder problems MIMO scenarios in centralized RAN. The main challenge exact optimization ML decoders with ever-increasing demand higher data rates is exponential increase solution space problem sizes. Since current 5G solutions can only approximate methodologies, Kim et al. [1] leveraged large phase shift keying and quadrature amplitude modulation scenarios. Here, extend upon their work present embedding limits both more complex receiver / transmitter numbers using Pegasus P16 topology system.
